Working with the fire department, from time to time we entertain off-island instructors who brave the long flight to Guam and who provide specialize training for our firefighters and first responders. Naturally we find ourselves "obligated" to hold an appreciation BBQ for them, by the beach of course. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
One such BBQ was held for our wildland fire investigation instructors. Here are a few photos that I took:
BBQing a little marinaded steak, spare ribs and chicken. Click here for the marinade recipe: http://guamfirehousecook.blogspot.com/2011/04/guams-bbq-marinade-for-beef-chicken-and.html
Everyone loves to supervise the BBQ, but how many BBQ tongs are actually being held?
The BBQ pit is usually the central gathering place. One can usually sample as you "hydrate".
Speaking of sampling, Big JD is cutting up some steak for "chase-sa" (sampling).
Our two Entertainment Directors. They ensure that the cooler never empties and there is plenty of ice.
Putting a couple of fresh fish on the grill.
The cooks always have their "quality control" measures in full swing.
Bubbles, in the black T, never dehydrates and never staves. He is not husky, he is "huskuler".
Guys, I think we are about ready to serve.
Ron will never be caught without beer at any BBQ.
The table has been opened.
Just can't get enough food. Here come the cooks..
A little R & R after the meal.
Now for the presentation of the class certificates by our instructors.
We Love our instructors!!!! Get em Bubbles!!!
Class picture on the beautiful beach at Adelup, Guam.
Our instructors were amazed by our hospitality, but we have a lot of practice at this. Anyone that comes to our island and provides firefighters training better standby for a serious BBQ. You will leave at least 10 lbs heavier. That is our goal!!! Can you handle that??
Until next time....
